Alva Sam "Bud" Phillips

Macon- Alva Sam "Bud" Phillips, 89, of 1081 Bond Street, died Monday, December 19, 2011. Services will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 11:00AM at Mulberry Street United Methodist Church with the Reverend Cile Mitchell officiating. Burial will be private. The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, 719 Mulberry Street, Macon, Georgia 31201. Mr. Phillips was predeceased by his wife, Juanita Barwick Phillips. He was a member of Mulberry Street United Methodist Church and the Solomon Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was a Shriner, Wolheim #309 Lodge Mason and a charter member of River North Country Club. Mr. Phillips was a former partner of Macon Custom Signs. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II. Mr. Phillips is survived by his daughters, Diane Phillips Jones (Charles J.) of Marietta and Pamela Phillips Blackstone (Bill) of Roswell; sister, Emma Lea Michael of Macon; grandchildren, Lea Garner (Milton) of Marietta and Chase Youngblood (Tami) of Acworth; great-grandchildren, Rachel Garner and Tate Garner, both of Marietta and Clay Youngblood of Acworth; five step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.
