Almeta Crockett Brewer

Almeta Crockett Brewer, 72, passed away Monday, May 2, 2016. Memorial services will be held at 6:30PM on Saturday, May 7, 2016 in the chapel of Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, with the Reverend Lawrence Williams officiating. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the Cupola. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon, Georgia 31210. Almeta was born on August 24, 1943 to Mr. Jack Malone and Ella Crockett in Greenville, MS. She was united in marriage to Joshua Alexander Brewer. Almeta gave her life to Christ at an early age at Mt. Ararat Missionary Baptist Church. Almeta attended Lucy Webb Elementary School in the Greenville, MS community where she grew up and graduated from Coleman High School. At Coleman High School, she was a member of the Coleman High School Glee Club. She also had a crucial role in the Civil Rights Movement as she was with Delta Ministry, a project operating in Mississippi to support the southern black freedom struggle for civil rights. Her passion for the law, politics and for equality followed her throughout her life. She was known by everyone for her kindness, generosity, her alto voice and her outgoing personality. She had a love for God, her family, singing, giving, and political activism. Almeta will be missed and remembered fondly by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joshua Alexander Brewer, her father, Jack Malone and her mother Ella Crockett Todd. Almeta leaves to cherish her loving memory her daughters, Renita C. Malone of Katonah, New York and Sonja Williams (Howie) of Memphis, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Trevon Malone of Houston, TX, Patrice Malone of Memphis, TN; Ralisha Malone of Tallahassee, FL; an extremely special cousin, Harry Crockett, Sr. (Mildred) of Greenville, Mississippi; a uncle, Charles Crockett of New Britian, Connecticut; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
