Alma Elizabeth Douthit Colbert

Macon- Alma Elizabeth Douthit Colbert, our precious loving Granny, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, December 19, 2011. Services will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 2:00PM in the Chapel of Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street with the Reverend Garry Willis officiating. Burial will be private. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00PM until 2:00PM and may be contacted at 4760 Cheryl Ann Drive, the residence of Betty Edwards. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Hospice of Central Georgia, 6261 Peake Road, Macon, Georgia 31210 or to Calvary Baptist Church, 5046 Fulton Mill Road, Macon, Georgia 31216. Mrs. Colbert, daughter of the late William Augustus Douthit and the late Lilly Curry Douthit, was born on April 23, 1915 in Roaring River, North Carolina and was predeceased by her husband of sixty-three years, Harry Leo Colbert, Sr. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Bill, Hyram, Ovid, Carl, and Harrison and her sister, Dot Douthit Benton. Mrs. Colbert was a member and former treasurer of Eastern Star Chapter # 345 and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, formerly Rivoli Baptist Church. Her family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to her caregivers at Carlyle Place. They would also like to praise the staff at Pine Pointe Hospice for their extraordinary compassionate care. Mrs. Colbert is survived by her daughter, Betty Edwards of Macon and her son, Harry Leo Colbert, Jr. (Jackie Gossett) of Round Oak; grandchildren, Diane Clough (Mike) of Macon, Julie Mayo (Robert) of Bonaire, Cathy Kirkland (Sid) of Macon, Susan Bennett (Kurt) of Lake Mary, Florida, Harry Leo Colbert III (Geriann), MaLise Colbert Clarke, Fran Colbert Daniel and Jennifer Colbert Phillips (Kenny), all of Macon; twenty-four great-grandchildren; thirty-one great-great-grandchildren; brother, Rex Douthit of Sneads, Florida; sister, Mary Ethel Stuart (Pete) of Forsyth and sister-in-law, Jerry Douthit of Macon.
