Alice Connell Grace

Alice Connell Grace, of Gray, passed away peacefully February 19, 2015. Born January 19, 1925 in Macon to the late Earnest Shirley Connell and Mamie Keppler Connell. Alice and her late husband Bobby shared many passions. They enjoyed the country life in rural Jones County, and were avid gardeners. They were also excellent cooks, often preparing dishes from the ingredients they grew. Alice had a lifelong love for travel. Among other trips, she visited the Desert Southwest, the Northwest Coast and Alaska, and spent a summer in Northern Europe and Scandinavia. Later in life she became a prolific painter of wildlife and country scenes, inspired by her love of Central Georgia and the beauty she saw in the natural world. Alice retired after 36 years of service with Butler, Williams and Wyche LLP. She was preceded in death by her husband Bobby R Grace. Survivors include her sons, Schuyler E Grace (Nancy) of Mesa, AZ, Dr. Michael S Grace (Tanya) of Melbourne, Fla and Jeffrey C Grace (Emilie) of Flowery Branch, Ga; Sister, Elizabeth Connell of Macon, Ga; grandchildren, Jenni, Sarah, Allison and River; and extended family and friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 24, 2015 from 12-2PM at Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street, with a Celebration of life service to follow at 2PM with Reverend Creede Hinshaw officiating. The burial will be private at Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association or the charity of your choice.
