Albert Herbert Autry

Dublin- Albert Herbert Autry, Sr., of Laurens County, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2010. Funeral services will be private. A visitation will be held Saturday, May 1, 2010, from 4:00PM until 6:00PM, at Hart's at the Cupola. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Dublin VAMC, 1826 Veterans Blvd., Dublin, GA 31021 or to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312. Mr. Autry was a graduate of Lanier High School where he played on two state championship football teams in 1949 and 1950. After graduation, he went to Auburn University on a football scholarship. Mr. Autry went on to graduate from Auburn in 1957. He then joined the United States Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Autry went on to coach many different sports, including football at River North and baseball at Vine Ingle. He was a member of the Touchdown Club and Civitan and former member of Riverside United Methodist Church. Mr. Autry was in the insurance business for many years, serving as president of Autry Insurance Services and retiring as a Senior Agent with The Principle Financial Group. Survivors: Daughter, Virginia Lynn Autry of Macon; Son, Albert H. Autry, Jr. of Rockledge, GA; Grandchild, Katherine Rebecca Larmore of North Carolina; Grandchild, Diana Lynn Merchant of Gray, GA; Grandchild, Thomas Garrett Sorrow of Atlanta, GA; Grandchild, Brooke Elizabeth Sorrow of Macon; Great grandchildren, Addison Elizabeth Larmore and Brice Adam Larmore, both of N.C.; Former wife, Martha Glover Autry of Macon and several nieces and nephews.
