Macon-A.H. "Buck" Hines passed away Thursday, January 21, 2010 at his home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Rd, with Dr. Marcus Tripp officiating. Visitation will follow the service at the funeral home. Burial is private. Family will greet friends at their residences. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vineville United Methodist Church, 2045 Vineville Avenue, Macon, GA 31204. Mr. Hines was preceded in death by his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Thornton Hines of Americus, GA., his first wife, Dorothy Bridges Hines of Valdosta, GA., and great granddaughter, Caroline Draughon. Mr. Hines attended Georgia Southwestern College and the University of Georgia. He also served in the United States Navy for three years during World War II, primarily along the Eastern seaboard. Mr. Hines was a retired Division Operations Manager for Bell South, having served for forty-one years in several cities in the state of Georgia. Mr. Hines was a former Kiwanian and a current member of the Ed Cook Sunday School Class, Vineville United Methodist Church and Idle Hour County Club. Mr. Hines is survived by his wife, Montine Ryle Hines of Macon; daughter, Sally Draughon and her husband John of Macon; son, Addison Harris Hines Jr. and his wife Becki of Waycross; four grandchildren, Ashley Draughon Graham and her husband Fred of New York, NY, Jack Draughon and his wife Elizabeth of Atlanta, Trey Hines of Valdosta, and Taylor Hines and his wife Loni of Waycross; five great grandchildren, Charlie Graham of New York, NY, Jacqueline and Catherine Draughon of Atlanta, Addison Rebecca Hines of Valdosta, and Will Hines of Waycross; and several nieces and nephews.
