Ada Carrol Diehm

February 11, 1922 — October 15, 2021

Macon

Ada Carrol Diehm (Staley), 99, from Boise, Idaho, quietly slipped into eternity October 15, 2021, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Carrol, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend. Her smile was contagious, and she gave it freely to all she met.

Born and raised in Idaho, she set off to Northwest Christian College (Eugene, Oregon) in 1939, where she met and married William John Diehm. They were married for 57 years, serving the Lord side by side throughout the years. Together they raised five children, mostly in southern California. At the age of 50 Carrol decided it was time to finish her college education and went back to Pepperdine University where she received a BA in Psychology. Bill and Carrol finished their years together in Lake Shastina, California, loving their home that looked out over the mountain. After Bill’s passing Carrol moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa where she embraced life and traveled the world. Carrol always embraced change, even moving to Georgia at the age of 95 and making many friends when she got here. An active member of Christ Church in Macon she loved her Wednesday morning Bible study and lunch with her dear friends. Carrol loved to knit, crochet, sew, quilt, and used her incredible skill to serve those around her. She had a servant’s heart and loved to do special things for others. Into her late 90’s she was still crocheting prayer shawls to be given to those who had been hospitalized. Her afghans and quilts are prized family possessions. Until the end she was an active reader, a swift cross-word puzzle solver, and a compassionate friend. She was never far from her companion Coco the cat.

She was preceded in death by her husband William, her nine siblings (Elda Troxel, Ethel Burger, Elwood Staley, Elmo Staley, Ernest Staley, Erma Hiser, Charlotte William, Rachel Bigley, and Ruth Gosser), her first born son William John Diehm, III (Billy), her grandson Dan Patridge and great-grandson Bennet Meuser. She leaves behind children John and Carol Diehm of Chico, California, Philip and Robyn Diehm of Charlotte, North Carolina, Carolyn and Gary Meuser of Boise, Idaho, Christine Diehm of Yreka, California, and Melody and Christopher Blake of Macon, Georgia, grandchildren Tanya (Shad) Hodge, Yvonne (Mike) Martini, Jeffrey Diehm, Kim (Eric) Littlejohn, Jaimee (Richard) Drew, Renee (Shane) Triplett, Mark Meuser, Carrie Meuser, Jared (Abby) Meuser, Garrett (Melinda) Meuser, Shari Meuser, Jason (Brittany) Swan, Katherine (Chris) Francis, Stephanie (Ethan) Graham, great grandchildren Molly, Cora, Justus, Scott, Annabelle, Jared, Justin, Ryan, Meredith, Chelsea, Charlotte, Savannah, Andrew, Caden, Araeli, Caelin, Sienna, Krischen, Kalea, Joelle, Nora, Emerson, Evalee, Silver, Tristan, Peyton, Aiden, Jade, Mabel, Aria, and Aurora, and three great-great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at Hart’s Cupola on Monday, October 25, 2021, from 4 to 6 pm. Services will be held at Christ Church in Macon, Georgia, on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held in Weed, California at a later date.

Her quiet strength and listening ear will be missed by all. The family asks that you remember her by spending your time doing what you love best with someone you love. Carrol would have liked that.
