MACON - Mrs. Catherine Crossno Tucker, 92, died Friday, April 16. Family only funeral services will be Monday, April 19 in Forest Hills United Methodist Church with interment in Arlington National Cemetery. Mrs. Tucker attended Forest Hills United Methodist Church. She attended Asbury College, earned her Bachelor's degree from Geneva College and her Master's from Georgia College. Mrs. Tucker was a retired Bibb County educator (Redding, McKibben-Lane, and Bellevue Elementary Schools), docent at local historical sites, and Cherry Blossom Festival volunteer. She also volunteered at the Macon Meals on Wheels and the Red Cross plus spent decades serving in numerous capacities within the United Methodist Women's organization. Despite frequent moves due to her husband's ministerial and military careers, she always created a home environment of grace and beauty. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, the Rev. Colonel (Retired) J. Ellsworth Tucker, her parents of Bells, Tennessee and her five siblings. Survivors are her daughter C. Annette Maxey of Atlanta and sons James L. Tucker of Riverdale, Iowa and Gwynn A. Tucker of Carmel, Indiana, five grandchildren - Gregory S. Maxey, Catherine H. May, Rebecca R. Williams, James A. Tucker, and Katerina M. A. Tucker - and five great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Meals on Wheels or Forest Hills United Methodist Church. Hart's Mortuary and Crematory, Cherry Street, has charge of the arrangements.
