Alashia Dawson, 94, of Macon, Georgia, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2025. A memorial service will be held at the Grande Ballroom at Carlyle Place on March 16 at 3:00. Burial will be private at Riverside Cemetery. Born on May 6, 1930, in Cordele, Georgia, Alashia was the daughter of the late John Cavada Sears and Alashia Urquhart Sears. She attended Middle Georgia College, where she cherished lifelong friendships and an education that shaped her thoughtful and compassionate nature. Alashia was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She cherished her family above all else and will be remembered for her warmth, wisdom, and the gentle care she gave to those around her. She is survived by her son, Dr. James C. Dawson of Perry, Georgia; daughter, Terri Sutherland (Charlie) of Mobile, Alabama; grandchildren, Morgan Kristine Dawson and Dr. Mallory Alashia Dawson, Dr. Charles Sutherland Jr. (Madison), and Caroline Alashia (Ali) Sutherland; and brothers, John Cavada Sears of Peachtree Corners and Allen Urquhart Sears (Evelyn) of Brunswick, Georgia. Alashia was preceded in death by her husband, James T. “Pete” Dawson, and her sister, Katherine Elizabeth Sears. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at Carlyle Place and her devoted personal caretakers, Amelia Hansford, Mary Edith, Kim Patterson, Laverne Prater, Ruth Brantley, Wendy Calloway and Sabrina Davis whose kindness and compassion meant so much to Alashia and her family.
