Mary Lou Darsey Poplin

Mary Lou Darsey Poplin, 83, of Macon, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2019.  A celebration of life will be held Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 2:00 at Martha Bowman United Methodist Church with the Reverend Mark Magoni officiating.  The family will greet friends following the service.  Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry Street, Ste A, Macon, GA 31201.

Mary Lou was born April 11, 1936 in Pickens, South Carolina to the late James Dowman and Juanita Lee Darsey.   Before working as an executive secretary for Wyle Laboratories, NASA, Mary Lou previously worked for Langdale and Vallotton Attorneys at Law in Valdosta, Georgia.  She was a member of Martha Bowman Methodist Church, Macon and was a lifelong Methodist.  Mary Lou lived in Huntsville, Alabama most of her adult life.  She lived in Macon for the past 8 years.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Girardean Poplin; 4 brothers, William S. Darsey, John Darsey, Joe “Bud” H. Darsey, and James R. Darsey.

Mrs. Poplin is survived by her children, Louis Charles Blanton (Cathy) of Houston,Texas and James Robert Blanton (Joyce) of Macon; 2 grandchildren, Erin Marie Blasche (Jody) and Brett James (Victoria) Blanton of Warner Robins; 6 great-grandchildren, Ethan Blasche, Evan Blasche, Ella Blasche, Madison Blanton, Eli Blasche and Ayden Blanton; and 1 niece, Susan Darsey.
