Lew Watson

Lew Watson, 55 of Macon entered the Gates of Heaven Tuesday, January 14, 2020. Family, friends and others whose lives Lew touched are invited to attend his visitation at Hart’s at the Cupola on Thursday, January 16, 2020 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 17, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Hart’s at the Cupola with Dr. Mark Hudgins officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.

Lew who had a dynamic personality and never met a stranger graduated from Central High School and was a member of the Central High Marching Band. He simply loved sports. Lew was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves, Georgia Bulldogs and enjoyed watching the Masters Golf Tournaments. Lew enjoyed ordering from Amazon and watching and recording his favorite TV shows.  Most of all, he loved spending time with “his girls” and was dedicated to helping them with their homework.

Lew was employed with Western Auto during his early years. Later, he worked as an estimator for Macon Architectural Hardware and then began his own business, Southeast Contract Hardware.

Lew was the son of Carolyn Cauley and the late Lawrence Edward Watson, Sr.

Lew is survived by his wife, Leslie Benson Watson of Macon; two daughters, Maggie Mae and Juliet Elise Watson of Macon; his mother, Carolyn Cauley of Macon; a sister, Sabrina (Terry) Griffin of Kathleen; a brother, Scot (Becky) Cauley; nieces and nephews, Savannah Calhoun, Emilee and Austin Benson, Kennedy and Coleman Cauley; great nephews, Sawyer and Wade Calhoun.  

Lew was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Edward Watson Sr., and his stepfather, Ray E. Cauley.

Lew will be missed and cherished by all who knew him. He truly loved the Lord and is now dancing with Jesus.
