Judith Lou Hooper, 76, of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, died Saturday, January 18, 2020. A memorial service will be held at 10:30AM CST Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Good News United Methodist Church, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, with the Reverend Brad Goode officiating. A reception will immediately follow the memorial service at the church. Burial will take place at Rock Springs Cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia. Contributions may be made in Judy’s name to the United Methodist Children’s Home, c/o Good News United Methodist Church, 4747 Hwy 98 West, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459.
She was the widow of Donald Edwin Hooper, and the daughter of the late Robert C. Grey and Florence Kathryn Harris.
Judy spent over fifty years working in sales. She began her career as a buyer for Rich’s Department Store in Atlanta, Georgia before moving to California to work for Emporium Department Store. In 1990, she began her second career in advertising sales for the Yellow Pages industry, working mainly in California and Nevada until she retired in December of 2015. In order to be closer to family, Judy moved to Santa Rosa Beach Florida in January 2016. She was a faithful member of Good News United Methodist Church. She was active in the Women’s ministry and the Prime Timers. She was also a member at the Santa Rosa Beach Club where she spent many afternoons playing bridge and participating in the Sassy Sister’s club. Judy’s sense of adventure inspired her to see the world. Princess Cruise Lines was her favorite way to travel.
Judy is survived by her son, Donald E. Hooper Jr. (Leslie) of Greensboro, Georgia; twin granddaughters, Abby Hooper (University of South Carolina) and Lilly Hooper (Georgia Institute of Technology); two sisters, Jackie P. Hallett of Apache Junction, Arizona, and Kay Gatins (Joe) of Gray, Georgia; and six nieces, Teresa Theodeau (Bob) of Kettle Falls, Washington, Janine Kroebig (Werner) of Tucson, Arizona, Sheri Rhine (Bob) of Cape Coral, Florida, Delaena Bundsen of Green Acres, Washington, Vicky Beach of Torrance, California, and Judy Gatins (Darren Clark) of Gray, Georgia.
