Edith Youngblood Dennard, 86, of Macon passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2019. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, July 5, 2019 at the chapel of Hart’s at the Cupola with the Reverend Russell Whitehurst officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Methodist Home for Children & Youth, 304 Pierce Ave., Macon, GA 31204.
Mrs. Dennard attended Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, Mississippi and Wesleyan College. She was an active member of the former Ebenezer United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and was active in the United Methodist Women. She was an active volunteer at the Methodist Home, as well as a member of the Pacesetters Senior Organization. Mrs. Dennard is preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Peavy, seven brothers, and one sister. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Alice Youngblood of Union Church, Mississippi.
Mrs. Dennard is survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert G. Dennard of Macon; children, Patty Thompson, Peggy (Larry) Chastain, and Teresa (Kirk) Taylor, all of Macon; son-in-law, Wes (Jill) Peavy of Lizella; 8 grandchildren, Kim (Bob) Schweitzer of High Point, North Carolina, Stephanie (Eric) Hoglund of Macon, Karen Thompson of Jeffersonville, Georgia, Amy (Mohamad Walid) Chastain of Iowa City, Iowa, Lindsey (Todd) Strevig of Warner Robins, Emily Sparks of Atlanta, Megan Sparks of Athens, Georgia, and Robert Peavy of Tampa, Florida; 6 great-grandchildren, Daylin Schweizer, Kayla Sexton, Joshua Sexton, Aleah Sexton, and Sage and Sam Pritchard; brother, Ed (Betty) Youngblood of Union Church, Mississippi; sister-in-law, Ollie Mae Youngblood of Meadville, Mississippi; and several nieces and nephews.
