Margaret Ethridge Allman, 70, of Macon, GA, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021, after a brief illness with cancer. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at Hart’s Mortuary, Jones County Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jones County Animal Services, 1015 Monticello Hwy, Gray, GA 31032, Camp Kudzu, 5885 Glenridge Dr, Atlanta, GA 30328, or donor’s favorite charity.
Margaret was the third child born to Sanford Virgil and Nellene Davis Ethridge on July 28, 1951. She attended Jones County High School through the 9th grade and graduated from Stratford Academy in 1969. Margaret graduated from the University of Georgia in 1973 with a degree in Education. She received her master’s in education from Georgia College in 1977. She taught for 30 years in the Jones County School System at Califf Middle School.
Margaret grew up at Elam Baptist Church where her mother was church organist for many years. In later years, she attended Gray United Methodist Church.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Marty Allman; brother, S.V. “Sandy” Ethridge, Jr.; brother-in-law, Phil Bivins; maternal grandparents, William H. and Sara Davis; paternal grandparents, Gordon and Ethel Ethridge.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Kate Allman; son, Davis Allman; sister, Marianne Bivins; sisters-in-law, Vickie K. Ethridge and Janet Allman Battcher (Jeff); niece, Deanne Bivins Edmisten (Rob); nephews, Philip Bivins (Tarin), Alan Ethridge (Meredith), and David Ethridge (Georgia); maternal uncle, Tommy Davis (Shelby); paternal uncle, Charles Ethridge; numerous great nieces and nephews; and a large number of cousins and friends.
