Joan M Barden, 82, of Juliette, GA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Thursday, October 7, 2021. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 23, 2021, at 4:00 p.m. at High Point Church at 2963 Hollis Rd., Macon, Ga. with Pastor Trey Dickerson officiating. A reception will follow the service.
Joan was very active and much loved by her friends and family. Her sweet and gentle spirit will be greatly missed. She lived in Candor, NY most her life. She was married for 41 years and worked for the school board in the cafeteria and was a Teachers’ aide before moving to Georgia the last seven years of her life. She was a member of High Point Church in Macon which she attended for the past six years and was lovingly referred to as “Aunt Joanie.”
Joan had a great sense of humor and always laughed and enjoyed her life. She leaves behind her dog, Gromit and two cats, Simba and Bella. She was amazing with children and invested much love into people. Her family meant the world to her. She was always ready to “go and do” whenever the opportunity arose. I don’t think she knew the word “no.” Just “let’s go.” Love that about her.
Joan was preceded by her husband, Lawrence Barden, her son, Timothy Barden, her sisters, Mary Chemotti, Patti Pettit (Jim) and Beverly Lamb (George); niece, Lorrie McCombs (Dennis); nephew, Michael Lamb (Apryl).
Joan is survived by her son, Rex Barden of Candor, New York; grandson, Dustin Barden (Lara) of Weaverville, North Carolina; brothers, Robert Slaight of Minneapolis, Minnesota, David Slaight (Sylvia) of Port Orange, Florida, Paul Slaight (Nancy) of Crawfordville, Florida; nieces, Emmy Intoppa (John) of Juliette, Ga., Amy Breeze (Doug) of Rochester, NY, Patti Johnson (Denny) of Blaine, Minnesota nephew, Chris Slaight of Port Orange, Florida, Jim Pettit (Jennie) of Blaine, Minnesota; and many other wonderful great nieces and nephews whom she loved and enjoyed life with.
