Mr. Alton D. Joyner, 94, of Jones County, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2024. Funeral services will be at Hart’s Mortuary Jones County Chapel, Monday, April 8, 2024 at 2:00PM, with the Reverend Rickey Tidwell, the Reverend Bobby Hamlin, and Care Pastor Chris Smarr officiating. Interment at Oaklawn Cemetery in Fort Valley, Georgia will follow the service. The family will greet friends at Hart’s Mortuary Jones County Chapel Sunday, April 7, 2024 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM.
Mr. Joyner proudly served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion. Mr. Joyner retired as a superintendent from Inland container where he worked for over 42 years. He loved to hunt and work on his farm. Mr. Joyner was a long-time and faithful member of Clinton Methodist Church.
Mr. Joyner is preceded in death by his son, Nathan Joyner; and siblings, J.C. Joyner, Elmer Joyner, Cleo Moore, Connie Hobbs, and Sarah Sanders. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Joyner; sons, Michael Joyner of Clayton, Georgia, and Dennis Craig Joyner (Regina) of Virginia; stepdaughter, Melinda Tidwell (Rickey) of Lizella; five grandchildren, Colby Joyner, Graham Joyner, Brandon Joyner, Kayla Joyner, and Kyler Joyner; step-grandchildren, Shawn Tidwell, Chris Tidwell, and Brad Tidwell (Kelly); four great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Jimmy Horne (Melinda) of Roberta, Georgia.
