Stephens Gary Hobby Jr. of Brunswick, passed away on Feb. 15, 2024, at the age of 54.
Gary was born on Jan. 13, 1970, in Macon. He attended First Presbyterian Day School and was a graduate of Central High School. He graduated from the University of Georgia, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order. After college, Gary returned to Macon to work in the family business, Silver Cup Chalk. In 2010, Gary moved to St. Simons Island, and most recently to Brunswick, where he worked as Ports Operation Administrator for Subaru of America.
The center of Gary's universe was his son, Rooker, and nothing made Gary happier than spending time with him. Gary was also an avid fan of Shakey's Pizza Parlor and David Hasselhoff.
Gary is survived by his son, Edward Rooker Hobby; parents, Steve and Peggy Hobby; sister, Meredith (Marc) Lipson; and niece and nephew Anna and Jack Lipson.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, March 24, 2024, at the chapel of Hart’s at the Cupola. The family will greet friends following the service until 4pm.
