John Ronnie Garrett, 80, died on Monday, February 25, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM on Thursday, February 28, 2013 in the chapel of Hart’s Mortuary at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, with the Reverend Bob Veazey officiating. Visitation will be between 6:00-8:00PM on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the Cupola. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Central Georgia, 6261 Peake Road, Macon, Georgia 31210.
Mr. Garrett was born in Shenandoah, Mississippi. He was the son of the late John Matthew Garrett and the late Essie Mae Adds Garrett. He graduated from Lanier High School and married the late Carole Joan Cain Garrett following high school. Mr. Garrett was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Macon local #472, now Atlanta local #72. He was a longtime member of Pine Forest Baptist Church.
Mr. Garrett was also predeceased by his son, Steve Garrett; and sister, Mattie Dugger.
Survivors include his daughter, Debbie G. Massengale (Ronnie) of Macon; son, John Rickey Garrett (Deb) of Fruitland Park, Florida; son, Monty Garrett (Tanya) of Macon; daughter, Bess Berg (Bob) of Lizella; daughter, Pat Garrett of Macon; 14 grandchildren, Chad & Christy Whited, Matt & Amy Garrett, Melissa & Brent Beattie, Rikki & Lafayette Riner, Jason & Tiffany Massengale, Steve & Jennifer Garrett, Summer Rae & Jason Turner, Brett & Shannon Garrett, Brandi & Jeremy Seymour, Lacy Garrett, Kyle & Ashley Garrett, Brad Berg, Brandon Berg, and Blake Berg; and 19 great grandchildren, Brandon, Hunter, Gavin & Halie Whited, Tripp & Maddie Garrett, Jordan & Sydni Beattie, Jasper & Olivia Riner, Victoria & Garrett Massengale, Kalyn & Trenton Garrett, Karli & Hannah Turner, Dylan & Ethan Garrett, and Peyton Seymour.
