Tom Hall Ivey, Jr.

Tom Hall Ivey, Jr., 76, died Friday, June 8, 2012. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, June 12,2012, at 12:00 PM at Riverside United Methodist Church with the Reverends Phil Waldrep, Steve Waldorf, and Wesley Jones officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the Memorial Service at the church. Burial will be private.

Born in Macon, the son of the late Tom Hall Ivey, Sr. and Mattie Simmons Ivey, he was a graduate of Lanier High School, Mercer University, where he earned a Masters degree in history, Candler School of Theology at Emory University, and the University of Georgia, where he earned a Masters degree in counseling. Reverend Ivey was an Ordained Minister of the United Methodist Church, serving as Pastor of a number of United Methodist Churches in Macon and the Middle Georgia area. He also was a Counselor with the Division of Rehabilitation, State of Georgia, for 30 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eugenia Walker Ivey.

Reverend Ivey is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jean McCarty Ivey of Macon; his daughters, Janet I. White (Emmitt) of Monroe, Georgia and Regina I. Ehrhardt of Grayson, Georgia; his son, Thomas W. Ivey (Julie) of Boca Raton, Florida; a brother, Robert Ivey (Mary Catherine) of Moultrie, Georgia; grandchildren, Will White (Erin) of Columbia, South Carolina, Allen White of Gainesville, Georgia, Sam White of Gainesville, Georgia, and Elizabeth Ivey of Boca Raton, Florida; great-grandchild, Ansley White of Columbia, South Carolina; nephews, Bert Ivey and Brad Ivey. The family may be contacted at the residence. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Phil Waldrep Ministries, P. O. Box 148, Trinity, Alabama, 35673 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
