Edward “Alton” Long, 55, died Thursday, May 10, 2012 after an extensive battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, May 14, 2012 in the chapel of Hart’s at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in United Bethel Cemetery, Crawford County.

Mr. Long was the son of the late Willie Clyde Long and the late Dorothy Elizabeth Hamlin. He was a self-employed carpenter. He was predeceased by a sister, Brenda Wagner; and two brothers, Nickey and Marvin Long.

Survivors include his brother, Frankie Long (Liz) of Lizella; six sisters, Dianne Smith of Lizella, Jean Newman (W.L.) of Gray, Sherry Majors (John) of Macon, Sarah Bittner (Butch) of Lizella, Arlene Long (Cleve) of Macon, and Susan Pearson of Lizella; and several nieces and nephews.
