Mrs. LaVerne Laney, 82, of Greensboro, NC, formerly of Macon, departed this life Wednesday, April 25, 2012, very quietly in the Palliative Care Unit of Moses Cone Hospital. God chose this date to reunite her in heaven with her husband, John, on his birthday.

LaVerne was born January 4th, 1930, in Macon, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, John F. Laney, mother and father, Rufus and Rosa Lee Hardy and brother Rufus(Mose)Hardy, Jr. LaVerne was an active member of Centenary United Methodist Church for many years and was a member of Forest Hill Methodist Church for the past several years.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Rowland Brazzeal of Jefferson, NC and Beth and Bob Bass of Locust Grove, GA .grandchildren, Kimm Rountree, Brannen Bass and Cam Brazzeal, and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services to celebrate the life of Mrs. LaVerne Laney will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Macon Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Methodist Home for Children, 304 Pierce Avenue, Macon, GA
