Macon- Dr. James Oral Dorriety, 87, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2012. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 6, 2012, at 10:00AM, at Tabernacle Baptist Church. Burial will follow at 3:00PM, in Parkhill Cemetery, in Columbus, GA. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2012, from 6:00PM until 8:00PM, at Hart’s Mortuary at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the residents of Flint River Memory Care Center. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Evercare Hospice for their wonderful care. Dr. Dorriety was active in the ministry for 62 years, serving as a Pastor in both Georgia and Alabama. He served as Vice President of the Georgia Baptist Convention and helped plan the religious aspects of some HUD communities. Dr. Dorriety traveled the United States and the world as an Evangelist and Motivational Speaker. He was also a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. Dr. Dorriety was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Vonzeal Dorriety.

Dr. Dorriety is survived by his wife, Susan Miller Dorriety; children, Jim Dorriety, Jr. and his wife, Montez, Jerry Dorriety and his wife, Mary Ann, Randy Miller and his wife, Tara; daughter-in-law, Christy Walker; grandchildren, Terri Koontz, Trae Dorriety, Scott Dorriety (Jenni), Zack Dorriety (Areej) and Maggie Denna (Blake) and great-grandchildren, Landon Koontz, Riley Koontz, Bruce Miller, Kennedy Miller, Owen Miller, Annabelle Miller and Elliott Walker.
